Densely tufted perennial, 50-80 cm tall, from a creeping rhizome. Leaf sheaths reddish to dark purple, glabrous, ending in a leaf-like tip up to 2 cm long, but no proper leaf blades. Inflorescence a solitary terminal spikelet or with 1-2 additional spikelets. |
