Description: |
A bushy perennial, up to 2m, sometimes a suffrutex with annual stems. Leaves ovate-elliptic to lanceolate, up to 13 × 7.5 cm, 3-5-veined from the base, somewhat hairy on both surfaces; margin crenate-dentate; petiole 0.5-5 cm long, often with glands near the apex. Male and female flowers normally on the same plant, male spikes up to 9 cm long, axillary, pinkish; female inflorescences often both terminal and axillary, cylindric to ovoid, greenish with long reddish styles and green wedge-shaped bracts. |
