Climber or climbing shrub to 7 m, with scattered hooked short prickles. Leaves pinnately 3-5-lobed. Cymes terminal, many-flowered. Corolla pale blue to mauve, 3-5 cm in diameter, pentagonal-rotate.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: wendlandii: for Johann Christoph Wendland, 1755-1828, German gardener and botanist.
