Description:
Tall erect annual, up to 2 m. It can be distinguished from the very similar C. bonariensis by the inflorescence being tall paniculate wit the side branches always being shorter than the main stem; the involucral bracts being green, not red-tipped, and the pappus being straw-coloured to pale brown.
