Description: |
Ascending perennial herb, up to 1.2 m high, rooting at the base; stem somewhat fleshy, hairless or sparsely pubescent towards the apex. Leaves broadly triangular to ovate, up to 16 cm long, blade running into the petiole as narrow wings, dark green above, paler beneath, almost hairless or with a few scabrid hairs; margin toothed or crenate; petiole up to 7.5 cm long. Inflorescence branched with terminal capitula 4-10 mm in diameter; capitula stalks 1.2-5 cm long, densely pubescent; involucral bracts, narrowly elliptic-oblong, 4-5 mm long, green, sparsely pubescent. Florets 21-28, 2-3 mm long, white; style 3.5-4 mm long. Achenes 2.5-4 mm long, smooth (never tuberculate), hairless or with a few minute glands; pappus of 3-4 pegs, c. 1 mm long. |
