Description:
More or less erect annual herb, up to 30 cm tall, usually much branched with widely spreading, woolly hairy branches. Leaves alternate, (sub-)sessile, narrowly oblanceolate to obovate or broadly elliptic to ovate, 10–55 mm long, more or less wooly hairy, midrib and veins prominent beneath; margin, undulate–dentate. Inflorescence lax, spreading with pedicels 5–20 mm long, short but densely hairy, often mixed with longer hairs. Calyx–lobes 1–5 mm long. Corolla 1·5–4 mm long, blue to pale blue or white, split almost to the base into lanceolate lobes, hairless or hairy outside. Capsule 3-valved, 1–2·5 mm long, 5–veined.

Worldwide distribution: Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, CAR, DRC, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda; Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Angola. Also in Madagascar, Comoro Islands, Yemen, India and Nepal.
