Description: |
Liane climbing up to 15 m or more. Milky sap present. Bark pale greenish-brown; branches dark brown, hairless or sparsely hairy when young. Leaves opposite, obovate-elliptic, fairly thinly textured, hairless or with a line of hairs on the sunken midrib above, lateral veins looping round to form a distinct submarginal vein; apex rounded; often with a short acuminate tip. Flowers in lax, elongated terminal panicles, sweetly scented. Corolla lobes up to 15 mm long, curved-linear, white, long-ciliate along the inner margin; tube 11-19 mm long, narrowly cylindric, slightly dilated in the upper half, pale to dark pink. Fruit subspherical, fleshy, up to 3 × 4.5 cm, yellow to red when ripe, edible. |
