Description: |
Erect or sometimes ascending or prostrate perennial herb, up to 60 cm. Stems somewhat 4-angled, reddish, more or less densely covered in long whitish hairs. Leaves opposite, narrowly to broadly ovate-oblong to lanceolate, usually narrower towards the top of the stems, up to 6 × 2 cm, 3-5-veined, dark green above, paler below, densely hairy on both surfaces; margin more or less finely serrate. Flowers in dense heads, surrounded by the uppermost leaves; petals 4 mauve-pink. Stamens usually subequal or unequal with strongly curved pedoconnectives up to 5.5 mm long, with 2 tubercles at the base. Fruit subspherical with a crown of bristles. |
