Description: |
Perennial herb, usually with multiple, more or less erect stems 10-95 cm high, often pinkish or purplish, more or less densely covered in bulbous-based whitish appressed hairs. Leaves opposite, linear-lanceolate to ovate, up to 7.5 cm long, lowermost leaves widest, 3-5-veined from the base, appressed setose on both surfaces; margin with fine setose teeth; petiole 2-5 mm long. Inflorescences more or less many-flowered compact terminal heads, 1-3.5 cm in diameter, rarely also axillary. Sepals oblong-triangular, 4-5 mm long with a terminal setose appendage; intersepalar segments c. 2 mm long, persistent. Petals 7.5-10 mm long, mauve, deep pink or rosy-purple. Stamens similar but of two lengths. |
