Woody liane, up to 25 m. Stems with numerous adventitious roots and copious clear sap. Leaves ovate to obovate with 3-5 pairs of lateral veins; margin finely serrate or crenate. Stinging hairs few, on the nerves and petioles. Flowers in lax axillary cymes with numerous stinging hairs, unisexual on different plants.
