| Description: |
Slender to robust caespitose perennial; culms up to 100 cm high. Leaf laminas 5–25 cm long, setaceous, involute. Racemes 2–20 cm long, the internodes all ± equalling the spikelets, glabrous. Sessile spikelet 2–5(6) mm long, narrowly ovate to oblong; inferior glume variously rugose or muricate, rarely almost smooth, obtuse, acuminate or bidenticulate at the apex, with or without an awn up to 5 mm long; superior glume awnless or with an awn up to 5 mm long. Pedicelled spikelet suppressed or almost so, represented by a curved pedicel as long as the sessile spikelet, sometimes surmounted by an awn up to 5 mm long. |
