Rambling perennial, rooting at the nodes; leaf laminas 5–20 cm × 3–15 mm, flat, acuminate to a fine pungent apex. Racemes 4–11 cm long. Sessile spikelets 5–8 mm long; inferior glume narrowly lanceolate, bearing scattered setae on the keels, acute; superior glume narrowly oblong, truncate; superior lemma bifid for 3/4 its length, with an inconspicuous awn 8–15 mm long. Pedicelled spikelets 6–10 mm long, narrowly oblong, purplish, truncate, the inferior glume broadly winged on one side, the superior glume winged from the keel near the apex. |
