| Notes: | "We have a tree in Harare it was planted by my Grandfather around 50 years ago and every year it is full of fruit. The fruit becomes soft and has a very strong smell when ripe. When cutting the fruit open you have to smear cooking oil all over the knife and your hands, this is because it extrudes a very sticky sap that is almost impossible to remove. The fruit tastes like a cross between a banana and a pineapple. Many trees have been propagated from the tree at 1 Belvedere Rd. There must be others around the Kopje area because we knew the whole neighbourhood." (Zidan and Tanya Adam on the Tree Society of Zimbabwe Facebook group). |
