DASYSTACHYS Baker
Perennial herbs, Roots either swollen without tuber or ± wiry with distinct tubers. Pedicels mostly articulated, usually with more than 1 at each node, less often with 1 and then supported by 2 bracts. Flowers open, star-shaped, urceolate to ± campanulate. Stamens straight or declinate. Ovary sessile, rarely stipitate. Capsule trigonous to deeply 3-lobed in cross-section. Seeds flat or sharply folded. Worldwide: 215 species, especially in Africa and India Burundi: 16 taxa. |
