Perennial herbs or subshrubs. Stipules persistent, fused to the petiole for most of their length, 2-fid. Leaves pinnately 3-foliolate. Inflorescences dense, axillary or terminal with persistent primary and secondary bracts. Flowers ± sessile. Calyx 5-lobed; the lowest longer than the others. Calyx extended basally as a pedicel-like receptacle. Corolla yellow. Stamens all joined together. Ovary 2-3-ovulate. Fruit oblong, flattened, with 1-2 articles, the upper article narrowed into a distinct hooked beak. Worldwide: 25 species in tropical and warm regions of the world. Burundi: 2 taxa. |
