Perianth with 5 lobes with a membranous margin and a mucro on the back just below the tip. Stamens 5, free. Ovary superior, consisting of 2 carpels, 2-locular with 2 ovules per loculus. Styles 2, free. Fruit a circumscissile, 4-seeded capsule, the lid splitting into 2 valves. Worldwide: 3 species in Africa, India and Australia. Burundi: 1 taxon. |
